Hangzhou to build an international sci-tech innovation center by 2035
The Hangzhou West Science and Technology Innovation Corridor is expected to grow into an important international sci-tech innovation center by 2035, according to the development plan recently released by local government authorities.
Covering an area of 398 square kilometers, the corridor involves Xihu, Yuhang, and Lin’an districts in Hangzhou, as well as includes Zijingang Sci-tech City, Future Sci-tech City, Qingshanhu Sci-tech City, and Cloud City.
The plan states that internet plus, life sciences and health, as well as new materials innovation hubs will take shape in the corridor by 2035. It also strives for the corridor to be an international incubator of new ideas, new scientific discoveries, and new technological inventions.
The corridor will focuses on strategic science and technology by constructing additional seven national and provincial laboratories, as well as additional four national technological innovation centers.
The corridor will become a leader of emerging industries by cultivating five or more innovative leading companies worth 100 billion yuan ($15.44 billion) and 100 unicorn companies, as well as by attracting 20 research and development headquarters.
The corridor will also introduce 100 high-level talents, including 20 academicians, as well as further improve its infrastructure facilities, including transportation and education facilities.
