The Public Works Authority of Qatar, Ashghal, stood out in three categories for the first cycle of the HBC 2022 International Awards
Doha, Qatar – April 26, 2022 – Another cycle of International Awards issued by Harvard Business Council (NY, USA) has successfully concluded on April 15, 2022.
Of the 439 candidates for victory, only 63 have reached the most coveted milestone; among them, the Public Works Authority of Qatar, Ashghal.
The organization responsible for planning, design, procurement, construction, delivery, and asset management of all infrastructure projects and public buildings in Qatar stood out in three categories: the Dealing with COVID-19 Award, Occupational Health & Safety Award, and Green Award.
The Public Works Authority of Qatar, Ashghal, has reached the Diamond level in the Occupational Health & Safety Award and Green Award.
The organization distinguished itself in the first category for prioritizing the protection of its employees and citizens through work zone inspections, interviewing workers and managers, referring records, quantitative risk analysis, and creating a hazard map.
What allowed Ashghal to achieve such a high status in the second category, on the other hand, was the commitment to engaging and encouraging all stakeholders from consulting companies, contractors, suppliers, workers, and others, to adopt positive environmental practices, create solutions, and new methods, and apply them during different stages of project implementation.
Regarding the Dealing with COVID-19 category, the organization demonstrated readiness, flexibility, and tenacity in facing a sudden and devastating health crisis like the pandemic that has recently affected the whole world. Building on the “Put People First” principle, the organization continued to deliver quality services to the community while ensuring that its employees and their families stayed safe. Moreover, they demonstrated that decisive leadership is essential to foster swift response, good collaboration, timely communication, and evidence-based decisions, which are critical to mitigate any adverse effects of a crisis of such magnitude.
This is only part of why the Public Works Authority of Qatar, Ashghal, managed to stand out among other candidates in the categories and levels mentioned above.
